Weekend poll: Airline mileage programs there are value?

We had some exciting news last week with Delta Air lines announcement that its miles will expire would not and before that, Southwest Airlines' loyalty program changes.

The theme was also of a recently published article reminding us Airways program as an elite could buy your way into US all brought to my attention.

Does this change anything? Are your loyalty to an airline rather unlike the shopping around PerFür the best rates and book your flight, based on price and schedule type?

Full disclosure: I'm not neutral on the subject of customer loyalty programs – I think you do more harm than good. But I wonder if the recent changes have changed the dynamics and whether more frequent travelers will participate in a program.

Here is a link to the survey.

And another question: what changes would need to look into a program behind these participate? Additional benefits? Charging less? Or should all passengers now have access to some of the benefits his Witheld and offered only to elites?

Please send me a note or admit you a comment.

As always this survey by readers of this site and consumer traveler and in cooperation with our friends at consumer travel Alliance is performed.

Aftermath episode this time the blame noodle soup...

Well there after waking up this morning, thanks to a hangover of this time to write much today feel like death, but thanks to the suspicious chicken noodle soup (the extremely hot was...) I had last night which made me was then slightly ill, only i didnt expect that it still affect...

I spend all day hiding under my Mozzie net in bed, read my book.... Between bouts of drift in and out of sleep... I can not eat to manage face but car and an ice-cream and decide, "Due date" flop down in cool bananas again to see... it was not very good, but it did the job just chillen during feel like death and want to landscape differently than my Mozzie case a bed for the rest of the day...

I then withdraw back into bed until the next morning, when in the hoped I feel the Internet was better, not very comforting either if, I googled "remedies for food poisoning ' (because nobody here speaks a word of English than asking if you want to buy their goods or take a tuk-tuk or 'Moto'!)" to find out if something I could there.... the chemist and one for questions, the first thing that comes as food poisoning can sometimes fatal end! Great, just what I want to hear! Do I actually still quite well somehow manage with this reassurance, sleep haha... (oh and as I thought no appeal except for what I'd already done, water and herbal tea drink...!)

Is this enough? I didn't need two vouchers for a Kennel

Charles Robinson tried to load his Labrador retriever on a United Airlines flight from Frankfurt, ends German, to Washington, recently an airline employee. Not only the cage he used for years, had his dog too small, but contribute had cut for his cats, it was either.

The cat kennel, he was told connectors screwed instead of clip down ports required. Robinson had to buy new cages for his livestock and extra pays you back in the States, sent at a cost of almost $1,000.

Which sit well with Robinson, who is flying member of the armed forces, the orders. United had the requirements in advance told him he could have found larger cages that meets their standards. Although he pointed out that the old cages were the airline perfectly acceptable when he arrived two years ago in Germany, reaffirms United only that it by its employee decision stand.

"It seemed no actual interest to the facts," he says.

I suggested that Robinson appeal this decision in writing and gave him a few airline contacts.

United his short, polite email with a form response that said it was just the following USDA requirements replied.

These requirements are all www.united.com lies. Please understand if you believed you were that cleared unnecessary kennels or you the Kennel size felt, was too large, this would have denied to at the airport with a Manager or supervisor. Unfortunately, after the fact I am unable to assist you.

United offered Robinson catch up two $100 electronic travel certificate for his trouble.

"The response from the United felt like insulting add injury," he says.

Robinson asked me to ensure that this was the final answer. I checked; It was.

A question of Robinson's experience increases: clearly the USDA rules on United's website reported?

"General information" on pet page says travel only, the USDA has clear guidelines on allowable temperature limits for animal holding areas, where airlines must obey. You have your page on kennels, to find which would Robinson who understand the rules have helped to dig a little deeper.

So yes, are these requirements, United.com - but are easy to find? No

Robinson says who United almost $1,000 cost him employees seem concerned to be probably as much as with their own dog.

She put the dog never even in her cage. She never took a measurement. She decided straight across the room, that cage was not up to specs.

A Word to the wise would it not isolated incident and the best thing to do is to be solved in airport, because if you allow it, United will be the victim blaming and way with a bunch of money. It's a shame.

In other words, Robinson and his pets saw United as an opportunity to make money. And now, in an effort to him make happy, it throws some funny money - two flight coupons - at him.

At the same time you would like to violate not the animals on the long flight from Germany to the United States. The results could be tragic.

So what do you think? Are two $100 certificates sufficient?

Paraguay

«South America» Paraguay
23 February 2011 by QVK, 3 months in South America

Hola Amigos!
At last! It was go, go, go, but I finally got a chance to update!
First, let me a moment to give a shout my sweat sister out and know who you are, Jessica Chait! This can for all (especially the salseros) believe be very hard, but I have never, EVER was as sweaty as I the first days in Paraguay been. I mean, 90 degrees, 200% humidity crowded in a bus perfectly still sitting at a traffic light literally with sweat dripping. OMG!
Ok! Now that you have these fabulous Visual: landed in Asuncion, Paraguay (capital) and spent several days. Asuncion is nice and friendly and so full of contrast. There are informal settlements with houses made of metal along the River, and then also poorer people, the life in one of the parks in the city (picture small city only with the homeless and their tents loaded), and then the posh site has all kinds of fancy clubs, bars and even a casino! It's crazy! However, in contrast to Dtown there are no begging.
Took a trip to Itauguá, famous for its lace makers who was an hour outside the city (and Yes, I bought a doily). As well as the Lonely Planet describes book, our bus on the side of the road broke. People got immediately have your refund and got off the bus as if it ever happens. Lucky for us, there was a different bus which came right after.
At that time were we, Encarnación, to see the Jesuit and we thought nearby ruins South of Asunción, pampered with their rumored wild Carnival parties, the every weekend in February in the run-up to the big events of Carnaval (March 8-11) run. Now, our bus driver hit (on one of those nice buses with air conditioning, because travel 5-6 hours) a pedestrian on the road. Came out of the ambulance and police, and I think the person lived, but it delayed and a half us an hour. We came down to the Encarnacion at 10 pm, rain, and began the city. After about an hour or so, it was obvious that there was absolutely no rooms throughout the city. Carnaval is huge, big deal. (Note to self, reservations ahead during Carnaval season do, when to visit Encarnación weekends.) Thanks to the kindness of a foreign made a few phone calls, we were advised it would be easiest easy border in Argentina and find lodging. Yahoo, which is what we did!
We again in Paraguay next-day cross the Jesuit ruins visit. A fabulous trip to the end when we were caught a TORRENTIAL rain! Places you directly under your shower head with water at full speed to stand. We have made some friends at the bus stop (travellers from Chile, Colombia, Bolivia). Finally, waited forever bus, one of the girls down a truck marked and we drove in the cabin of semi in the next town! Can you Say…adventure? And finally made it all back…...
Part of the trip: 3 months in South America

Tijuana, San Quintin

«««North America» Mexico» Baja California» San Quintin
15Th February 2011 ViajandoSur

After a late departure from San Diego I will detail later save we finally the border crossing in Tijuana...Viva Mexico! We had to put Wal-Mart and best buy, a few things to go, but we were finally on our way. We crossed the border and used to find the trusty handheld Garmin GPS Hertz Rent a car in Tijuana. We collected our vehicle and went to Rosarito to visit my mom, Fernando and my little sisters. Cristina I starve, and were always slow, so we were pleased to see that my mother on the stove had some Polo Guisado. We ate some Pollo, Rices and some Quesadillas and we waited until Fernando came back from work. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we crossed the border and Cristina and forget your driver's license. Fernando had to get the license from my home before to come home Rosarito stopped.

We loaded the car and we were way South Baja California. We stopped for gas and tried some famous tacos from "El Yaqui" in Rosarito, but Taco stand was closed. We received some good and tasty tacos from "Tacos y Tortas Norteños," the

meet our appetites, and got us going. We began, drive, and it was around 7 pm. We made it to Ensenada and got a little lost, cause of the "MEX 1" went highway in the city, but we were quickly on our way and on the road again. We stopped found in Bahia San Hotel Quintin and the old mill. We arrived very late and the place looked well kept and was right on the waterfront. It was about 11: 30 pm when we arrived and the reception at the old mill hotel was closed. They had a note on your door that said rooms 15 was open and available and costs $35 USD. From there, we stayed and paid in the following morning, but we decided our tent place. We had the best view of the beach! Next to the water...

Jinja

Andrew and Yasmine asked me if I I said to Jinja with you for the day to come, so nothing else wanted to do so!
We have down bus station, where we get a minibus taxi in Jinja Bodas (motorcycle taxi thing)! The thing with minibus's are only leave if you are full! and its very close!
Again suburbs/slums in lush green landscape soon changed as with the drive to Murchison the landscape from the city!
As we the landscape nor environmentally friendly as was approached, Jinja of included Nile large amounts of water on farms! Again the journey was dotted with small villages and towns and markets sell the usual array of local food, fruit and vegetables! The freshly prepared food smelled amazing! but the still hesitate to try it!

Once in Kampala City itself, we have surrounded we taxi on a busy street by the bustle of a busy busy African city! (that it sure is…)
We wandered around for a bit and found us at the bottom of the market of that sells anything and everything of spare car parts to American sports team baseball caps! as well as the usual food and things! Around when we went landed some more we stand outside an elementary school where the children seemed shocked/surprised to see us! They were screaming, trying to get our attention and a boy called us "This is Africa".

After 5 minutes we decided where we wanted and went for more boda's to get us there! After a little negotiation we devised a price! and we have taken for a little direction of Andrew, Gateley on the Nile! a small hotel and restaurant has supposedly the best food in town! We had lunch and some beers are, then went back into town and wandered around the shops!
After a short shopping tour we went back and searched for a minibus to us back to Kampala, we found a larger more comfortable bus!
We missed then stop we were meant to get out! and ended up half way through Kampala! We decided for food, a restaurant on our way back, rather than at the hostel! We ended up at the Speke hotel, which was very nice! then we went way must on the street, one of the more interesting walks I've ever taken! over to a group of prostitutes and all (who down the street follow, until you finally give up!) we have back Boda's to red chili that not the greatest experience, was because the drivers really knew where the hostel was, and the ID that got back safely only the journey into the light and its much different at night done, but we!
We had a few beers at the bar and then to bed went!

My first new Word learned! "Mzungo" means the white man in Swahili! and what everyone call us!
